G. Elizabeth Gestewitz, 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. She was the wife of Raymond G. Gestewitz, with whom she celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on February 24, 2017. She was born in Washington, DC., daughter of the late Alfred A. and Edith Whalen Freysz and was a Licensed Practical Nurse, having worked at Baltimore City Hospital and Lancaster General Hospital. She also worked in the cafeteria at various schools in the Hempfield School District before her retirement; was a member of Lancaster Church of the Nazarene; life-member of the ladies auxiliary for West Hempfield Fire and Rescue Company; a Girl Scout leader for many years; was a volunteer at the Indian Reservation in Albuquerque, NM; and also delivered Meals-On-Wheels.
Surviving in addition to her husband, one daughter: Carolyn M. (Robert E.) Hancock; one son: Samuel R. Gestewitz. One step-daughter: Raymonda (Clifford) Leaman. Eight grandchildren. Two great-grandchildren. Two brothers: Alfred Freysz, Jr. and Thomas (Bertie) Freysz.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Mark K. Justice, officiating. Interment in Silver Spring Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Please omit flowers.
