Paul R. "Russ" Houseal, 84, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Masonic Village. He was the husband of the late Ann L. Bachman Houseal. He was born in Maytown, son of the late Franklin P. and Anna K. Fletcher Houseal. He worked as a Tow Motor Operator for Kerr Glass Company for many years before his retirement. He was affiliated with St. John's Lutheran Church, Maytown; was a lifetime member of BPOE #1074; VFW Red Rose Memorial Post #2435; and Catholic War Veterans #1306. During his lifetime he sold refrigerators and cut down trees for many people in the community. Russ had a love of playing cards with his family and friends.
He is survived by his family: Paula L. (Rick) Hake, Columbia; Lynn A. (Skip) McElhenny, Yorkana; Tess A. Hollingsworth, Hershey and loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brother: Richard F. (Elva) Houseal, Wrightsville. Sister: Louise (Richard) Baker, Mount Joy. He was preceded in death by grandson: Ricky Hake. Brothers: William and James Houseal. Sister: E. Helen Mumper.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 31 South Eighth Street, Columbia on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ronald L. Bachman, officiating. Friends may call at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc. on Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Please omit flowers.
