Clyde Hess Herr, 96, of Lancaster, passed away on April 22, 2019 at the Mennonite Home. He was the husband of the late Cecile L. Thumma Herr to whom he was married for 52 years. Clyde was born in Providence Township, son of the late Ira C., Sr. and Emma Hess Herr.

As a young man, Clyde was engaged in farming and later was employed by Martin's Chicks as a maintenance foreman for over 50 years. He was a charter member of Hempfield United Methodist Church and was dedicated to his wife and family. In retirement, he volunteered for over 15 years as a Meals-on-Wheels driver. Designing and creating furniture and wood projects was a favorite pastime in his basement wood-shop. Clyde also enjoyed fishing, hiking, traveling, and making video recordings of his trips.

He is survived by his daughters: Beverly A. (wife of the late J. Richard) White, Mount Joy; and Jeanne Herr (wife of Michael) Cassidy, Maytown. One grandson: Patrick Cassidy, Bellefonte. One brother: Ira C. (Mary Jean) Herr, Jr., Lititz. One sister: Dorothy (Joseph) Stoltzfus, Leola. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Nancy Eileen Herr Lawrence, and three brothers: J. Robert Herr, Roy D. Herr and Raymond Herr.

The Funeral Service will be held at Hempfield United Methodist Church, 3050 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 12:00 Noon with Rev. John F. Longmire, officiating. Private interment will be held. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon.
