Alma J. Horner, 99, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Masonic Village. She was the wife of the late Russel W. "Mike" Horner, Sr. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Martin I. and Orpha M. Steiner Fischer. Alma was a secretary for Sandvik Company, York and also at Hinkle Machinery Company, Columbia before her retirement in 1985. She was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed traveling the United States, going to the shore and doing yardwork.
She is survived by two sons: Russel W. Horner, Jr. and Stephen M. Horner. One granddaughter: Kristy (Brian) Askey. Two great-grandchildren: Miranda and Carson Askey. One sister: Harriet Horn. Also, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings: Jerome Fischer; Clair Fischer; Orpha Heffelfinger; Shirley Speise and Margaret Nauman.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. Interment in Mountville Cemetery. There will be no public viewing, however, visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to: Masonic Village Hospice.
