John A. Boyer went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, May 2, 2025. He was born April 16, 1928 in Quentin, Lebanon County to the late Clayton P. and Frederica E. (Mellinger) Boyer. He lived his formative years at various homes in Lebanon County and, after his marriage to the late Arlene M. (Yeagley) Boyer, he lived in Columbia, Mountville, Ephrata and, most recently, at Oak Leaf Manor North. John was a long time member of the Columbia U.M. Church and participated in numerous mission trips with the church. Most recently he was a member of Hope U.M. Church in Ephrata, PA. He also belonged to a number of organizations and clubs, many of which involved his interest in the Civil War. He loved to travel, especially if he could do so by train, and never lacked companionship as he could strike up a conversation with anyone, be it a friend or stranger. By far, however, his favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his children: Deborah (Harold Jr.) Morrow; Diane (Rodney) Brown; John (Denise) Boyer; Raymond (Diane) Boyer; and Jolene (Kevin) Nauman. He was also blessed with 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He has one surviving brother, Dale Boyer and his wife Bonnie as well as his sister-in-law Patricia Boyer. He was preceded in death by brothers Clayton Boyer and Wayne Boyer and sister Betty Miller.
John’s family would like to thank everyone at Oak Leaf Manor North as well as Caring Hospice for the friendship and loving care they gave their father in his final days.
A private interment will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetary with full military honors at the family’s discretion. Memorial contributions should be made to the charity of your choice.
