Joseph Mento, Jr. entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 71. He is survived by his two daughters, Jenna L. (Robert M.) Wholaver and Juliana L. Mento; and three grandchildren, Weston, Waiden, and Wyatt. Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Mento McMahon.
Joe was born in Philadelphia, PA and was the son of the late Joseph and Philomena Mento. He was raised in Abington, PA and graduated from Abington High School, Class of 1972. After high school he went to PennCo tech school. He spent his 37-year career as a bus mechanic and his last 3 years as the pool technician for Abington School District until his retirement in 2018.
Joe was a devoted member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Buckingham, PA. He was a man of faith and read his Bible daily. Joe loved going to the New Jersey beaches, specifically Barnegat Light to see the lighthouse, Ol’ Barney. He took joy in gardening, maintaining his property, working on his vehicles, and spending time with family. He was known for his large vegetable garden and giving tractor rides to all the neighborhood kids.
Joe’s greatest joy was raising his daughters and becoming a pop-pop. He will be loved and missed very much.
