Fred W. Platner, 58, of West Hempfield Township, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Lancaster Medical Center. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Fred F. Platner and the late Janet M. Lapham Arnold. Fred was a heavy equipment operator for B.R. Kreider & Son, Inc. for 39 years. He was an avid sportsman, loved hunting, fishing, boating and the outdoors with friends.

Fred is survived by one sister: Karen L. (Michael E.) Byerly, Adamstown. One niece: Lynn (Jason) Shugar, Birdsboro. One nephew: Justin (Carli) Loss, Knoxville, TN. One great-niece: Sarah Shugar and one great-nephew: Jack Shugar. He was preceded in death by one sister: Kathleen M. Adams.

The Memorial Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. The Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
