Betty J. Hoffman, 96, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late Elwood L. Hoffman, who passed away in 1989. Betty was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Verne R. and Florence H. Miller. She was a very active, and longtime member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church; a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star, Columbia Chapter #366; and a very active volunteer for many area organizations.
She is survived by one daughter-in-law: Bonnie M. Hoffman, Columbia. Three grandchildren: Keith (Kathy) Hoffman, Manheim; Scott Hoffman, Tulleson, AZ; and Kyleann (Mitch) Heim, Columbia. Two great-grandchildren; Ashley (Terry) Spangenburg; and Alec Hoffman. Three great-great-grandchildren: Nathan, Emma, and Benjamin. One sister: Arlene (John) Landis, Lancaster. She was preceded in death by one son: Dennis E. Hoffman and nine brothers and sisters.
The Memorial Service will be held at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 655 S. Tenth St., Columbia, PA 17512 on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Mark S. Kopp, officiating. Private interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. The Family will greet friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. James Lutheran Church.
