Isabelle R. Rudisill

 
 

Isabelle R. Rudisill, 96, of Washington Boro, went to her heavenly gardens on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. She was born in Rockdale, MD, daughter of the late Mearl Dewitt Rice and Lola Ellen Barnhart Rice. She graduated from Greencastle High School, Class of 1946. She trained as a teleprinter operator at Western Union Tech, Washington, NJ. In 1949, she received her Student Pilot License at Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown, MD. She was a member of the “Fairchild Cargoetts”, their women’s basketball team.

Isabelle was married for 43 wonderful years to John E. Rudisill, Jr., who passed away on February 28, 2006. She was a member of the Mountville Church of the Brethren. She loved her church family.

 She came to Lancaster in 1950 and started working for Seabord Management Company, which merged in 1953 with Avco Finance Company, where she became a manager in 1970. She was very delighted to be asked by the company to do two commercials—one in New York and one in California. Isabelle retired in 1987 as manager and training supervisor. 

Isabelle loved Lancaster County. In 1953, she joined the Lancaster Young Republicans and served that organization in many capacities. In 1966, she became the State Young Republican secretary. She was a member of the Women’s Republican Club, since 1953. She served 2 years on the State Committee, and co-chaired that committee for 2 years. She was also elected Jury Commissioner for 2 years. 

In 1990, she joined the Town & Country Garden Club. She served 8 years on the committee for District IV, as well as 7 years on the PA Garden Club Federation. She was chairwoman in 2001 and 2002. She loved her garden club family. The wonderful care and attention of her husband, helped her in all these achievements. 

After retirement, John and Isabelle visited thirty-eight states and were world-wide travelers. 

She was preceded in death by her sister: Peggy Rice and a step-son: Robert Rudisill. 

The Memorial Service will be held at Mountville Church of the Brethren, 60 Clay Street, Mountville on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Greeting time will follow the service.
