Mary Belle Thomas Schauer, of Lancaster, was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 7, 2017. She was the wife of the late Wilbert E. “Bill” Schauer, to whom she was married for over 60 years before he passed away on March 2, 2009. She was born in Springfield, OH, daughter of Howard W. and Agnes G. Steele Thomas, formerly of Holtwood. Her father was a native of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and her mother of Springfield, OH and she was raised in the Shenandoah Valley and then was a resident of Lancaster County for many years. She was a professional tour guide for many years and trained for four Pennsylvania Counties and Delaware where she enjoyed the people and the history. Mary Belle’s high school album referred to her as “Skylark” and always looking for the ‘’up” side of life. She attended classes at Lancaster Bible College, three years home-study from Rhema Bible College, and many other courses of the Bible. She had been a member of the Worship Center for over 20 years, and was involved in the Children’s Ministry for over 12 years. She was a member of Zion Church of Millersville, and loved God and his word.
She is survived by two sons: Thomas E. Schauer, Ontario, Canada; and Gerald W. (Sharon) Schauer, Lancaster. One daughter: Sandra Lee (Steve) Sacoolas, Granite Bay, CA. Seven grandchildren. Seven great-grandchildren. Four great-great-grandchildren. One sister: June Weidman, Conestoga. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Stanley, Marvin, George, and Albert. One sister: Helen.
The Funeral Service will be held at Zion Church of Millersville, 317 North George Street, Millersville, PA 17551 on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Stephen P. Cote, officiating. Private interment for the family in Quarryville Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. for the saying of “So Long, until we meet in heaven”. (God’s Children never have to say goodbye.) In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to: Zion Church of Millersville.
