Mary Jane Swarr

Mary Jane Swarr, 83, of Juniper Village, Mount Joy, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care. She was the wife of John R. Swarr, with whom she celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on August 2, 2018. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Curvin Tome I, and the late Mary King Peters. Mary Jane was a bus driver and cook for Head Start, Columbia for 26 years before her retirement. She was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church and their choir. She was a very good and avid bowler and she also enjoyed playing cards, including poker; going to the mountains; and spending time with her family.

Surviving in addition to her husband, one daughter: Kathy A. (Keith)Hoffman, Manheim. Two sons: John M. (Dora) Swarr, Columbia and Mark L. (Krista J.) Swarr, York. One granddaughter: Madison Jane Swarr. One brother: Curvin Tome II, Bainbridge. She was preceded in death by one sister: Elizabeth Buser.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 31 South Eighth Street, Columbia on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. Private Interment will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. Viewing from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Please omit flowers.
