Gloria R. Elias

 


 

Gloria R. Elias, 95, of Luther Acres, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, MeiMei, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024. She was the wife of the late Louis N. Elias, who passed away in July of 1990. Gloria was born in Mahopac, NY, daughter of the late Raymond and Caroline Branch Smith. She worked in the office of Lancashire Hall. Gloria's passing will leave a hole in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of faith, love and dedication to family, friends and community, as well as her feisty spirit will live on in the hearts of her friends, family and caregivers.

Gloria was a dedicated follower of Jesus and faithful member of several local churches over the years. She served by singing in the choir, participating in outreach programs and as part of the prayer group. She loved to volunteer her time to help others. Gloria volunteered in many community service roles including Meals on Wheels and the LUMINA clothing bank. Gloria collected angels throughout her life, and was known to always be wearing a different hat. She loved music, and singing in numerous choirs. Gloria treasured spending time with her family and was happiest when all of her family was gathered together.

She is survived by one daughter: Luanne (Steve) Schreier. One son: Joseph (fiancée: Angela Gehris) Elias. Grandchildren: Taylor Elias (Jacob) Salinger; Alexa Schreier (Alex) Eyler and Zachary Elias. Great-grandson: Theodore Eyler. Many cousins, nieces and nephews. Remaining to cherish Gloria's memory is her sister: Myrna Gustafson. She was preceded in death by one sister: Carolyn Caprio and one brother: Donald Smith.

The Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel at St. John's Herr Estate, 200 Luther Lane, Columbia on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 12:45 P.M. Private interment in Conestoga Memorial Park.
