Karen Joyce Pfannebecker Hinote

 
 

Karen Joyce Pfannebecker Hinote, 81, of Columbia, PA, originally of Moravia, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her home, on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Karen was united in marriage to Jerry Wayne Hinote in 1959. They later divorced after 20 years of marriage. Karen was born in 1942, in Moravia, Iowa, daughter of the late Clifford and Veleta "June" Kaster Pfannebecker. Karen graduated from Moravia High School, Class of 1960 and worked for several years at Delong Industries in Albia, IA, as a supervisor, until her retirement. She attended Community Bible Church and was a devoted mother, who was always involved in her children's activities. Being a mom was the highlight of her life. Karen was an avid reader and loved Pepsi, puzzles, playing bingo, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and her Corgis, Kadee and Abby. Karen will be thoroughly missed by her family.

She is survived by her five children: Sherri Mellinger, Columbia, PA; Barry Hinote, Las Vegas, NV; Scott (Amelia) Hinote, Ozark, MO; Melissa (Vinnie) Gross, Middletown, PA and Jeremy (Aimee) Hinote, Dillsburg, PA. Nine grandchildren: Joshua Mellinger, Stephanie Mellinger Fleck, Gabby Gross, Austin Detwiler, Jordan Baum, Zac Hinote, Sierra Detwiler, Levi Hinote and Jacob Hinote. Six great-grandsons: Tim, Eli, Henry, Greg, Luke and Lincoln. She was preceded in death by one brother: Larry Pfannebecker and son-in-law: Craig Mellinger.

Cremation has been accorded. The  Memorial Service will be held at Community Bible Church, 331 Anderson Ferry Road, Marietta, PA 17547 on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor John Goasdone, officiating. Memorial contributions in her memory can be directed to the family, to be decided at a later date.
