Kenneth D. Peters

Kenneth D. Peters, 88, of Washington Boro, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2019 at home. He was the husband of Gayle L. Fisher Peters with whom they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 2, 2019. He was born in Manor Township, son of the late Earl C. and May A. Brown Peters. He was a weighmaster for Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority (LCSWMA) at the Creswell Landfill for 23 years before his retirement. Ken was a graduate of Penn Manor High School and attended Elizabethtown College. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict and at the age of 87, he flew a T-6 airplane. He was a member of Washington Boro Church of God where he served as a deacon and also Columbia Church of God. Ken was president of the Ultralight Club, was an avid bird watcher, loved animals and kids. He was also a leader of 4H wood working. 

Surviving in addition to his wife, his children: Karen E. (Tillman F., Jr.) Rupp; Kenneth D. Peters, Jr.; and Jennifer M. (Miguel) Rivera. Eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two sisters: Janet Yoder and Aletha Groff. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Earl, Donald, Richard, V. Allen, and Robert Peters

The Funeral Service will be held at Columbia Church of God, Seventh and Walnut Streets, Columbia, PA 17512 on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Fred Thomas, officiating. Interment in Silver Spring Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: Columbia Church of God.
