Rupert M. "Red" Sheldon, 88, of Lancaster, formerly of Parishville, NY, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at his daughter's home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Nancy Lunderman Sheldon, who passed away on June 13, 2013. He was born in Hopkinton, NY, son of the late Ell Ray and Ruby Thurston Sheldon. Red was a graduate of Parishville-Hopkinton High School. He was a Beater Engineer for Nekoosa Edwards, Sissonville, NY for 15 years and a painter at Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY for 20 years before his retirement on December 31, 1995. Red was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps and a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a member of AMVETS Post#265, Parishville; the Marine Corps League, Lancaster; the Parishville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad and was a volunteer at the VA Medical Center, Lebanon. Red enjoyed reading, walking, woodworking, doing things with his family and especially going to sporting events for his grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons: Robert F. (late Jeannine) Sheldon, St. Mary's, PA and Mike J. (Jennifer) Sheldon, Johnsonburg, PA. One daughter: Deb L. (late Reggie) Jones, Landisville. Five grandchildren: Keshia, TaWanda and Marcus Jones, Kyle and Jacob Sheldon. Six great-grandchildren: Cameron, Amirah, Olivia, Drea, Marcus, Jr. and Jayvion. Numerous nieces and nephews. Close friends: Reggie and Judy Barrett; and Sonny and Gert Forrest, all of Parishville, NY. He was preceded in death by one son: David M. "Pickle" Sheldon. Infant daughter: Lena. Six brothers: Forest, King, Earl, Everette, Francis, and Robert Sheldon. One sister: Nellie Kingsley.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. Final Commendation and Farewell will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. There will be no public viewing. Please omit flowers.
