Betty G. Metzger, 90, of Lancaster, formerly of Mountville, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Mennonite Home. She was the wife of the late Donald R. Metzger, Sr. with whom she was married for 62 years before he passed away on November 29, 2009. She was born in Mountville, daughter of the late Luther E. and Elsie Harsh Gingerich. She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and a graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1944. She enjoyed sewing, and making quilts that she gave to her sons and grandchildren.
Betty is survived by one son: Donald R., Jr. (Beth H.) Metzger, Lancaster. Four grandchildren: Michelle (Terry) Wiley; Allison (Matt) Schlegelmilch; Lori (Jason) Thompson; and Jonathan (Laura) Metzger. Seven great-grandchildren: Jackson; Cade; Ava; Madison; Hayden; Jake; and Chase. One sister: Ruth Rhoads, Lancaster. One daughter-in-law: Beth A. Metzger, Lancaster. She was preceded in death by one son: Gary R. Metzger. One grandson: Brian R. Metzger. One great-granddaughter: Bailey Metzger.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor James Cavallero, officiating. Interment in Mountville Brethren Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Please omit flowers.
