Clair A. Kendig, 82, of Millersville, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Geraldine J. Groff Kendig with whom he would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on December 1, 2017. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Charles H. and Mae E. Rhoades Kendig. He worked as an upholsterer for Flex Steel prior to driving school bus and working as the Head Building Custodian at Hambright Elementary School for 30 years before retiring in 1990. Following retirement, he worked for Office Works. Clair was a member of Kready Avenue Evangelical CongregationalChurch and attended Central Manor Church of God. He loved gardening, his 1970 Economy Tractor, Chevy trucks, woodworking, going to Roots Market and Flea Market, Dairy Queen for banana splits, tinkering on small engines, and watching old Western programs including John Wayne and the Lone Ranger. Clair was always eager to lend a helping hand to others.

Surviving in addition to his wife, one son: Jeffrey M. (Judy A.) Kendig, Lancaster. Two granddaughters: Kimberly S. (John) Martin, Strasburg; and Amy M. (Perry) Tolos, Longwood, FL. Four great-grandchildren: Makenna and Kaylee Martin; and Nolan and Nychole Tolos. One brother: Larry V. (Shirley) Kendig, Wrightsville. He was preceded in death by one brother: Charles Kendig, and one sister: Gladys Barley.

The Funeral Service will be held at Central Manor Church of God, 387 Penn Street, Washington Boro, PA 17582, on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Gretchen Madea and Rev. Pat Bear, officiating. Interment in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Please omit flowers. Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to: Central Manor Church of God or Crown of Life Fellowship, 610 E. Main St., Mount Joy, PA 17552.
