Arthur Good Shopf

Arthur Good Shopf, 79, of Felton, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. He was the husband of Diane Forney Shopf, with whom he celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on August 16, 2017. He was born in Columbia, son of the late Paul W. and Ruth Good Shopf. He was a school teacher, having taught at Eastern York High School and at the Lancaster Vo-Tech (CTC) in Brownstown, Willow Street, and Mount Joy. He was a graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1957 where he participated in the Marching Band and Track; was a Professional Horse Trainer for 20 years; a former member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Mountville; and was a CDL Instructor, having helped start the Mount Joy CTC Truck Driving School. He enjoyed spending a lot of time, since his childhood, at his island cottage on the Susquehanna River.

Surviving in addition to his wife, two daughters: Christa S. (Matthew J. M.) Blake, Wrightsville; and Julie L. (Randall W.) Dabler, York. One sister: Jane S. (Monroe) Stoltzfus, Ephrata.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 168 North Main Street, Red Lion, on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor David D. Tietje, officiating. Private interment in Silver Spring Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: the Columbia Food Bank, 340 Locust St., Columbia, PA 17512.
