Janet F. Zimmerman, 87, of Columbia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at home. She was the wife of the late Paul W. Zimmerman, Jr. who passed away on March 4, 2017. Janet was born in Chester County, daughter of the late Albert and Kathryn Fagan Ferguson. She was a switch board operator for Slaymaker Lock Company for 30 years before her retirement in 1985. She was a graduate of JP McCaskey High School, Class of 1948 and enjoyed crafts, painting slates, her cats, traveling, her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter: Terri L. Zimmerman. One son: Michael B. (Andrea M.) Zimmerman, all of Columbia. Four grandchildren: Desiree E. Patton, Michael D. Patton, Paul M. Zimmerman and Bryan A. Zimmerman. One great-granddaughter: Araya Luna. One sister: Phyllis A. Kauffman, Lancaster.
The Memorial Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville, on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Private Interment will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Please omit flowers.
