Jacob S. Ginder

Jacob S. Ginder, 93, formerly of Mount Joy, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Edna K. Ginder, with whom he celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on September 4, 2017 before she passed away on October 30, 2017. He was born in Rapho Township, son of the late Daniel W. and Lizzie Shelly Ginder. Jacob retired from farming in 1996, also bought and sold used farm equipment and drove school bus for the Manheim Central School District. He was a member of the Mountville Mennonite Church since 1947 where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Secretary, served on the Summer Bible School Committee, the Stewardship Committee, Church Building Committee, and was a Trustee. Jacob was devoted to his family, helping his children on their family farms, and lovingly cared for his wife Edna, through many years of her illness.

He is survived by one son: Nelson Ginder, husband of Mary (Harnish) Ginder, Mount Joy. Two daughters: Ruth, wife of Merrill Borntrager, Mount Joy, and Arlene, wife of David Keller, East Berlin. Two grandsons. Ten granddaughters. Twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Benjamin Ginder and Isaac Ginder.

The Funeral Service will be held at Mountville Mennonite Church, 205 Froelich Avenue, Mountville, on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jim Laverty and Pastor Philip L. Shertzer, officiating. Interment in Crossroads Brethren in Christ Cemetery. Friends may call at the EAST Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, PA 17543 on Monday, from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also at the church on Tuesday, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: the Caring Fund at Landis Homes. Arrangements by the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., Mountville/Columbia.
