Gary T. Ruffhead

Gary T. Ruffhead, 84, of Lancaster, beloved husband and father, went home to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ruth Strickland Ruffhead. Three children: Thomas Ruffhead; Sarah Miller; and Richard Ruffhead. Five grandchildren. Two step-grandchildren. Three great-grandchildren. He served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in February of 1958. He proudly served the Boy Scouts of America for 32 years as a Professional Scout Executive, before his retirement in 1989. Gary was a very active member of Grace United Methodist Church; member and past president of Lancaster Men’s Garden Club and raised award winning miniature roses as a hobby. He was a long-standing member of the Lancaster Optimist Club and served as president in 1982.

The Memorial Service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 163 West Frederick St., Millersville, PA 17551, on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gary’s memory to: Pennsylvania Dutch Council of the Boy Scouts of America, 630 Janet Ave., Suite B-114, Lancaster, PA 17601 or to Grace United Methodist Church.
