Richard K. "Pops" Markley

Richard K. “Pops” Markley, 65, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017. He was born in Columbia, son of Lucille Ford Fuhrman, Columbia and the late Valentine E. Markley. He worked as a pressman for JL Clark, Co. for 47 years before his retirement in January, 2017 and also worked at Leisure Lanes, for over 20 years. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post #34; the Red Rose Memorial VFW Post #2435; and the Hambones Social Club. Pops enjoyed spending time with his Loxley family; bowling; watching golf; and the Philadelphia Eagles Football.

Surviving in addition to his mother, two sons: Christopher (Monica) Markley, Wrightsville; and Matt W. (Nicole) Markley, Lancaster. Two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and numerous siblings. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

The Memorial Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 31 South Eighth Street, Columbia on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
