Thomas W. Biechler

Thomas W. Biechler, 61, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa “Terry” L. Jones Biechler with whom he celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on December 20, 2016. He was born in Lancaster, son of Sylvia Lorraine Hoffman Biechler, Lancaster, and the late Carl S. Biechler. He was a math teacher for the School District of Lancaster, having taught at Hand Middle School, J.P. McCaskey High School, and the Phoenix Academy for 25 years, before his retirement in 2011. Tom was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus Counsel, #2294. He was a Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. He was a longtime PIAA Umpire, and an ASA Umpire. He coached American Legion Baseball; enjoyed playing Pinochle with his father and friends; his monthly card night with his high school buddies; his grandchildren; and his dog “Rocky”.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother, two sons: Christopher W. (Justine E.) Biechler, Wrightsville; and Michael W. Biechler, Mount Joy. Two grandchildren: Caleb W. and Lizzy L. Biechler. One brother: George E. (Nancy) Biechler, Reading.

The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry Street, Columbia on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. withRev. Stephen P. Kelley, and Rev. Peter I. Hahn, Concelebrants. The family is requesting that guests wear casual attire. Final Commendation and Farewell in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: Our Lady of Angels School, 404 Cherry Street, Columbia, PA 17512.
