Laura W. Hoover

Laura W. Hoover, 86, of Mountville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. She was the wife of Rufus M. Hoover with whom she would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 7, 2017. Rufus loved and cared for Laura right up to the end. Laura was born at home in Warwick Twp., daughter of the late Michael N. and Jennie Steffy Wenger. She was a member of Mountville Mennonite Church where she taught Bible and Sunday school classes. She enjoyed sewing; making and sending cards; and being a devoted mother. Laura and her family lived in Sarasota, FL for 38 ½ years. It was in Sarasota where she raised her two children, Joy and Kevin. Rufus and Laura moved back to Mountville in 2002 to be closer to their children, who lived in Lancaster County.

Surviving in addition to her husband, her son: Kevin (Beth) Hoover, Lititz. Three grandchildren:  Andrew, Alissa and Aidan Hoover. Siblings: Kathryn (late John) Ebersole; Bertha (Ben) Brubaker; Norman (Anna) Wenger; Mary (John) Becker; Michael (Mary) Wenger; Edna (late Melvin) Cramer; Anna (late Ron) Reimer; Paul (Elsie) Wenger; and Martha (Bob) Harnish. Numerous nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her daughter: Joy Hoover Boone who passed away in 2015. Sisters: Mabel Ristenbatt (late William) Saylor; Grace (Leroy) Ebersole and Esther Wenger.

The Memorial Service will be held at Mountville Mennonite Church, 205 Froelich Ave, Mountville, PA 17554, on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Jim Laverty, officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to: Mountville Mennonite Church.
