Benjamin G. "Poppy" Slocum

Benjamin G. “Poppy” Slocum, 64, of Mountville, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at home. He was the husband of Patti A. Langley Slocum, with whom he would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on February 17, 2019. He was born in Kane, son of the late Serrill and Ellen Thom Slocum. Ben was a veteran of the US Army, which included serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired after 20 years of service. He was a helping and giving person.

Surviving in addition to his wife, two daughters: Tricia A. Slocum-Thurber, Fredonia, NY; Cassie J. (William R.) Coder, Mountville. One son: Scott D. (Ashley) Slocum, Ephrata. Eleven grandchildren: Christopher (Brianna), McKenzie, Joshua, Loretta, Stella, Brody, Linus, Alexander, Zoey, Simon, and Jackson. One sister: Pamela (Rick) Johnston, Kane. He was preceded in death by one brother: Randy Slocum.

The Memorial Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. with visitation from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517. To send an online condolence, visit the condolence page.
