April 20, 2018 Gregory Workman
Benfer, J.jpg

Judith A. “Judy” Benfer, 72, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Earl J. and Elverda Pean Warner. After graduating from Lancaster Catholic High School, she married Charles H. "Ben" Benfer III, with whom she had three children. Ben and Judy were married for 54 years. Judy was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was still working at Hempfield LPC until her death. She was a hard worker at every job that she had, and was even better at making friends wherever she went. She was always in charge and causing “trouble” in the best ways. Her world revolved around her children and grandchildren. You didn’t have to be blood to be a part of Judy’s family, her love knew no bounds. Judy was truly a one of a kind woman who will be deeply missed.

Surviving in addition to her husband, her children: Charles H. Benfer IV; Machele A. Benfer; and Shane M. Benfer. Fourteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Earl “Red” Warner and Kathleen “Sis” Moore.

The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at  Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry Street, Columbia on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Arrangements by the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., Columbia/Mountville. To send an online condolence, visit the condolence page.
