Mary Lou Jones, 84, lifelong resident of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. She was the wife of Donald L. Jones, with whom she would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on August 18, 2018. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Charles J. and Clara Kline Smith. Mary Lou was a Registered Nurse, having worked at the former Columbia Hospital, Lancaster General Hospital and the Lancaster Rehabilitation Hospital for 46 years before her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she served as the Parish Nurse; a member of the Altar Rosary Society; St. Vincent DePaul Society; was a fastnacht volunteer; and was the Care for Caregivers Wellness Nurse.

Surviving in addition to her husband, her children: Donna M. (Greg) Balmer, Boulder, CO; Theresa L. (the late Thomas) Biechler, Lancaster; P. Bruce (Vicki) Jones, Elizabethtown; and David M. (Sue) Jones, New Providence. Four grandchildren: Christopher, Michael, Joshua, and Amber. Six great-grandchildren: Ashton, Bailey, Cady, Caleb, Lizzy, and Colin. One brother: Fred Smith, Columbia. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles and Pete Smith. One sister: Sara Goodhart.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry Street, Columbia, PA 17512, on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Stephen P. Kelley, as Celebrant. Interment in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 31 South Eighth Street, Columbia on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also at the church on Friday, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Recitation of the Rosary on Thursday at 8:00 P.M. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to: Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
