H. Scott Hable, 74, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. He was the husband of Linda Frey Hable, with whom he celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on September 5, 2018. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Harold B. and Jeanne Youtz Hable. Scott was a school teacher at Pequea Valley Intermediate School for 37 years before his retirement in 2003. He was a member of New Holland United Methodist Church; and he played the organ, and guitar in many bands at local clubs. Scott designed and built their two homes in New Holland and Lewes, DE. He was a great outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, cooking, and traveling, with his trip to Alaska in 2017 being the highlight for him. Scott wintered in Florida; enjoyed weekend getaways with his “buddies” to the cabin; and yearly family gatherings to Ocean City, NJ. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife, one daughter: Kim S. (Phil) Gibson. Three grandchildren: Kirsten O. Gibson; Joshua P. Gibson; and Valerie S. Hable. One daughter-in-law: Nicole Hable. One brother: Steve Hable. One sister: Susan (Ron) Funk. Also, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son: Kevin S. Hable. 

The Memorial Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Kerry Leeper, officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 1:30 PM. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: the Lancaster Farmland Trust, 125 Lancaster Ave., Strasburg, PA 17579; or Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125; or the Lancaster General Health Foundation (Ann B.
