Carl E. Wickenheiser, 93, of Silver Spring, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, peacefully, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Patricia A. Wickenheiser, who passed away on April 17, 2015. Carl was born in Columbia, son of the late Joseph S. Wickenheiser and Margaret Kruger Flosser. He worked at Armstrong World Industries for 18 years and was the owner/operator of Wickenheiser Windchimes. Carl was of the Catholic faith, a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict and enjoyed wood carving, fixing things around the house and traveling.
He is survived by four sons: David Whelan, Lancaster; Michael (Stacy) Whelan, Silver Spring; Sean (Dolores) Whelan, Columbia and Christopher (Bonnie) Whelan, Marietta. Four daughters: Julia (Scott) Kennedy, Lancaster; Sherry (Brian) Gates; Michelle Kensinger and Susan (John) Dilling. Twenty-five grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters: Theresa Frazier and Sarah Miller. One grandson: Seth Cassell. Three brothers: Daniel, Joseph and Paul Wickenheiser. One sister: Margaret Showman.
The Memorial Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. Visitation from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Interment in Silver Spring Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to: the Landisville Food Bank.
