Janet A. Matthews, 84, of Millersville, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. She was the wife of Richard G. "Dick" Matthews with whom she would have celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary on May 17, 2026, and the late Philip J. Zavalick, who passed away in 2004. Janet was born in Long Island, NY, daughter of the late William S. and Margaret Menton Hunt. She was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church, their AWANA, the Women's Ministry Society and was a church office volunteer.
Surviving in addition to her husband, her children: Diana M. Zavalick, Lancaster; Renee L. (Jay) Herr, Taylors, SC; David P. (Adrienne) Zavalick, Mountville; Wanda M. (John) Kilby, Lancaster and Cathy J. (Philip) Folkman, York. Nine grandchildren. Twenty great-grandchildren. Two sisters: Margaret (Alan) Hoffman, Long Island, NY and Joyce (Frank) Rozzi, Altoona, PA. She was preceded in death by five sons and two brothers: Howard and William Hunt.
The Funeral Service will be held at Faith Bible Fellowship Church, 151 Donerville Road, Lancaster, PA 17603, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Keith Long, officiating. There will be no public viewing, however, the Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in Riverview Burial Park.
