C. Annette Schopf

C. Annette Schopf, 87, of Mountville, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, August 16, 2026 at 10:41 A.M.

Annette was the loving wife of Edward E. Schopf, with whom she celebrated 67 years of marriage in June. She was born in Lancaster daughter of the late Robert R. and Dorothy Graybill Sesseman, Manheim Township.

Annette was a woman of deep faith whose life was marked by her love for the Lord, her family, her church, music, and adventure. She was a longtime and active member of the church, serving in a variety of ways throughout her life. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and sang in the church choir while at Manor Brethren in Christ Church. Annette was most recently a member of Lancaster Church of the Brethren, where she also sang in the choir.

Music was an important part of Annette’s life. She sang soprano and enjoyed many years of choral singing, solo work, gospel music, and participation in the choir. She was frequently heard singing on The Gospel Tide Hour program found on WDAC radio. She also enjoyed serving as a representative and hostess with the Fresh Air Fund program and traveling on music-related missions, including trips to Israel, Ukraine with Music Mission Kiev, and Honduras.

Annette valued staying active and was a dedicated member of the Hempfield Rec, faithfully attending her Mon, Wed, and Fri exercise sessions for many years. She enjoyed the friendships and fellowship she found there.

In her youth, Annette attended Manheim Township High School where she played Field Hockey.

Upon graduation she spent 5 years working as a secretary at Armstrong World Industries. She then began having children and spent the next chapter of her life at home raising her 4 children. Annette found great joy in watching her children grow. She cherished being an active and loving presence in the lives of her grandchildren and, in time, her great-grandchildren. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with them, celebrate their milestones, and be part of their everyday lives.

Annette met her husband, Edward, through Youth for Christ, and throughout their marriage she was a devoted partner who supported him in farming and his various business ventures. She was adventurous and enjoyed playing mini golf, croquet, and ping pong. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was actively involved in their lives.

Annette is survived by her husband Ed Schopf of Mountville, four children: Kim (Nelson) Shertzer; Gene (Sandy) Schopf; Jim (Andrea) Schopf who are all local; and Carol (Heiko) Gerdes, California. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy. Annette was preceded in death by her younger sister, Julie Kellam.

Annette leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, music, dedication to family, and a life lived with joy and adventure. Her family and many friends will remember her for her warm spirit, faithful service and devotion, and the love she so freely gave to those around her.
