Mark Richard Ertel

Mark Richard Ertel, 68, of Mountville, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 after a brief illness. He was raised in Williamsport and State College by the late Donald W. and Betty J. (Meck) Ertel. Mark was active in Boy Scouts, earning it's highest honor of Eagle Scout, Little League, and neighborhood adventures. At State College High School, he won many regional and state wrestling titles. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Penn State and his Master's Degree in Labor Management Relations from the University of Massachusetts. Mark was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hike, camp, fly fish, canoe, and bike. He was a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer at Global Aid Network (GAiN) and committed to his church and community. In all endeavors, Mark was honest, fair, and helpful.a legacy for us all.

He is survived by his daughters: Suzanne Sawusch, Hainesville, IL; Sarah Ertel Melanson, Roswell, GA; and Karen Ertel, Holden, MA and their mother, Mary Metzger Allen, Holden, MA. Seven grandchildren and his brother: Ross Ertel, Greensboro, NC. He was preceded in death by a brother: Gregory Ertel, Williamsport.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Church of God of Landisville, 171 Church Street, Landisville on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to GAiN ( http://www.gainusa.org/). Arrangements by the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., Mountville/Columbia.
