Miriam H. Miller, 90, of St. John Herr Estates, Columbia, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019 in Lancaster. She was the wife of the late, Jay Robert Miller, who passed away in January of 2006. She was born in Manor Township, daughter of the late Christian G. and Elsie Mowrer Habecker. She was a homemaker and did domestic work for the Mann family. She also worked on the family farm until the Spring of 1968, and in the cafeteria at Penn Manor High School and at Garvin’s Department Store. She was a member of Central Manor Church of God where she taught Sunday School to the fourth graders for many years. She was a graduate of Manor Township-Millersville Boro High School, Class of 1947. She was a member and past president of the Farm Women’s Society #23; the Postcard Club; and she enjoyed bird watching, sewing, going to the mountains, gardening, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by a son: P. Robert Miller, Augusta, GA. A daughter: Janice M. (Daniel R.) Good, Mount Joy. Eight grandchildren. Eleven great-grandchildren. One great-great-grandson. Sisters: Esther Nolt; Mary Weaver; and Edna (Dick) Shenk, all of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Joyce Harris; grandson: Christopher Harris; sisters: Anna Martin; Martha Barley; and Florence Dryden.

Frederick M. “Fred” Kreider, 73, of Conestoga View passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Clarence H. and L. Virginia Armentrout Kreider. He was a member of Mountville Mennonite Church and enjoyed singing, having sung with the Moment of Glad Tidings; eating; and current events. Fred’s favorite radio station was 90.3 FM.
He is survived by a step-sister: A. Elizabeth Witmer, Lititz. Step-brother: Daniel S. Weaver, Willow Street. Half-sister: Martha J. (Glenn J.) Lippart, Lititz. Dawn E. Hewes, 61, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of Sylvia M. Hershey Squires and the late Fred Squires. She was a graduate of Hempfield High School, Class of 1976.

Ginger L. Ditzel
Ginger L. Ditzel, 74, of Enola, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019. She was the wife of David D. Ditzel with whom she would have been married to for 12 years, and the late J. Ray Kauffman, Sr. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Fred Holdridge. She worked in various shoe factories in the Lancaster area, Jamesway and CVS until finally retiring. She also volunteered at Creekside Fire Company. She enjoyed crocheting, volunteering at the firehouse, spending time with family, shopping and traveling.

Coy L. Thomas, Sr.
Coy L. Thomas, Sr., 86, of Conestoga, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019. He was the husband of the late Charlotte M. Thomas. He was born in Saltville, VA, son of the late Sandy and Ellea Jones Thomas. He was a carpenter/farmer. Coy was a Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and was an avid hunter.

Guy M. "Bull" Collins, Jr.
Guy M. "Bull" Collins, Jr., 84, of West Hempfield Township, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at home. He was born in West Hempfield Twp., son of the late Guy M. Collins, Sr. He was a foreman at Lancaster Malleable Castings, Company for 37 years of which 35 were perfectly attended. He was a veteran of the US Army, loved going to Roots Market, Hinkles for breakfast, bowling, NASCAR with Chase Elliott being his favorite driver, miniature golf and was a former member of the Ironville Fire Company.
He is survived by two sons: Edwin G. Collins, Tulsa, OK; and Guy M. "Tiger" Collins, III, West Hempfield Twp. One granddaughter: Kathryn Rose Collins, Oklahoma. One step-brother: Kerwin H. (Joyce) Wertz, Washington Boro. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Michelle Collins Zipp, and numerous brothers and sisters.

Paul D. Funk
Paul D. Funk, age 93, a lifelong resident of Manor Township, died after two days at St. Anne’s Retirement Community on Friday, October 25, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.He was the husband of Hilda M. Funk (Breneman). They celebrated 71 years of marriage in May 2019.
Born in Washington Boro, he was the fifth of nine sons and one daughter to the late Roy and Mildred (Shultz) Funk. He will be dearly missed by his four children: Wendell L. Funk, MD, Lancaster, Paula D. Schwabenland married to Edward J. Schwabenland, Downingtown, Brian L. Funk, Millersville and Kym Funk MacKilligan, married to Gregory B. MacKilligan, Lancaster. Paul had six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Surviving Paul are four brothers: Edgar, LeRoy, Donald, and Robert, all of Manor Township. He was predeceased by four brothers and one sister, B. Milton, Amos,James, Lester and Ruth. He had numerous supportive nephews and nieces who helped him navigate his aging and declining health over the last few years.
Paul was a gracious, gentle and humble uncomplaining man. Because of his Christian faith and family-based hard work ethic as a farmer, Paul’s greatest quality was a life of integrity and dedication to his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family. He quietly showed those around him that Godliness with contentment is great gain. His acts of kindness were unseen but freely distributed to neighbors and those in need. He fully supported his wife, Hilda, in her more visible acts of service at church and in the community. He was a lifelong member of Central Manor Church of God, Washington, Boro.
Paul always had time for fun and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was known to enjoy a well-placed practical joke or deed. He loved competition whether it was pitching softball, playing croquet, quoits, board or card games. Paul was a member of the Camp Lookout Hunting Gang. The cabin was in Clinton County and the site of many fun getaways to hunt, hike and enjoy the great outdoors. Paul enjoyed annual events such as family vacations to the Outer Banks, a three-week trip to Aruba every winter, and Central Manor Camp meeting. Paul also enjoyed fine food, music and live theater. Like many Funks, he had ice cream (homemade or Turkey Hill) before retiring at night.
But of all the places to be, Paul was most comfortable on a tractor where he excelled in plowing a straight line and being outdoors. Local farmers sought Paul for his natural gift of agricultural, poultry, and livestock wisdom. Paul was a buyer of tobacco from local farmers for Lancaster Leaf Company. He also sold seed for Hoffman Seeds. Despite a serious farming accident on his 21st birthday when he lost four fingers on his left hand, he was able to do all farming activities with no physical disability.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service at Central Manor Church of God, 387 Penn St., Washington Boro on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. Winona Thomas, 80, of Marietta, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019. She was the loving companion of the late Theodore R. Ortman. She was born in Delta, daughter of the late Sandy P. and Ella Jones Thomas.

Murlene Kenney
Murlene Kenney, 77 of Columbia, entered into rest on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at home. She was the wife of Chester L. Kenney with whom she would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on January 25, 2020. She was born in Magnolia, AR, daughter of the late Charles Carter and Thelma Jameson Carter-Turner. She was a caregiver provider and a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, and many organizations within the church.
Surviving in addition to her husband, a very special daughter: Patricia L. Gantz-Wilkerson. Also a host of nieces and nephews. One brother: Charles P. (Chetstine) Carter, Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by two infant children.

Robert William "Bob" Boales
Robert William "Bob" Boales, 81, of Lancaster, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went home to heaven in the early morning on Sunday, October 20, 2019. He was born in Philadelphia, son of the late Bob and Betty Boales and was the oldest of four children. He was a retired electrical and manufacturing engineer for more than 50 years, having worked for Boeing and Tyco. Cooking and baking were some of his favorite activities. He was also passionate about electronics, trains, woodworking, and caring for his family. Bob's spirit will live forever in the hearts of his loved one's.
He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene "Lee" Boales with whom he celebrated 39 years of marriage. His children: Jeff, Judy, Ed, Louise, Lori, and their families. He grew up with his sisters: Ruthie, Liz, and Lois, who is now deceased. Bob will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and generosity. His family and friends will love him always and forever.

William G. "Bill" Carlin
William “Bill” Carlin of Lancaster, died Friday October 11th at St. Anne’s Retirement Community in his 94th year. On what would have been their 67th wedding anniversary Bill was reunited with his late Jean M. Carlin in Heaven. Bill was born in 1926 in Coatesville, PA son of the late Walter D. Carlin Sr. and the late Mary Newlin Carlin.
Bill began his career in agriculture in 1940 by becoming a member of the Future Farmers of America. He served as the State President in 1944, received both the State and American Farmer Degrees and furthered honored by being selected the Star Farmer of America in 1946 from a membership of 225,000 boys in the U.S.A. This honor came to him at the F.F.A. Victory Convention held in Kansas City, 1946.
In 1949 he was one of four national F.F.A. members chosen to represent this country in the first International Exchange Program with the British Young Farmers, spending nine weeks in England and Wales.
Bill and older brother, Walter had their life story spotlighted on the “The Fields are Green” episode on DuPont Cavalcade of America broadcasted coast to coast in 1951 They were recognized for their idea crop rotation heavy lime application and farming the fields on the contour.
In 1963, Bill became a Poultry Contract Supervisor with the PA Farm Bureau Cooperative Association. When Agway Inc. was formed he and his family transferred to several locations to manage Poultry Complexes before being transferred to Lancaster County in 1970. His last assignment with Agway was becoming Agway’s Southern Division Poultry Accounts Manager working from their Southern Division office in Harrisburg.
Bill served as Director, and Chairman of each committee that was part of the Pennsylvania Poultry Federation, and their President during 1975 – 1976.
Following fourteen years with Agway he took employment for twelve years with Hubbard Farms of Walpole, N.H. in the sales of Poultry Breeding Stock.
Bill was awarded an Honorary American Farmer Degree at the National Convention of the F.F.A. in the mid 1980’s. During his active years he enjoyed many opportunities to represent this organization through the U.S.A. and overseas. During those same years he participated in the 4-H Clubs and the Grange.
Bill was selected and honored as the Pennsylvania Egg Industry of the year for 1981 by the Pennsylvania Poultry Industry. He considered this as one of the highlights of his career, to be selected by his fellow peers and workers in this Industry.
Following his retirement he worked part-time for fifteen years at the Manheim Auto Auction. During these same years he volunteered his time promoting the American Heart Association’s annual Heart Walk as a committee member and participation. Several years later he participated as a bicycle rider supporting the Annual 150 mile ride for M.S. Bill was well known for playing his harmonica at retirement and convalescent homes, for church meeting and group meetings. Bill believed in exercising through bicycle riding and in later years walking and competing in the Lancaster County Senior Games and the PA State Senior Games, where he won numerous awards.
Bill was always an active member of the church family throughout his lifetime in the various communities they lived in, most recently being a member of the Mountville Church of the Brethren.
Bill enjoyed traveling with his wife to many areas of the country, the Islands, England and Europe. He also enjoyed family adventures with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Dad, Pop-Pop, Pap-Pap your loves surrounds us everyday, we feel your presence everyday even though we can no longer see you, hug you or touch you. Knowing you and mom are together again give us peace and comfort. If it was not for your strength and support we wouldn’t be the family we are today, you will always be the foundation of our family.
He is survived by son: Bill, husband of Merrilee; Daughters: Lyn, wife of the late Joe Brubaker; and Ann Kelly. Three Grandchildren: Renee Rankin; Justin, husband of Jamie Carlin; Rebecca Carlin. Two Great-grandchildren: Alex and Karissa. Three grand-felines: Calvin, Mason, Murphy. One brother Richard D, husband of Janet Carlin; and Sister-In-Law Doris, wife of the late Walter D. Carlin.

George R. Baltozer
George R. Baltozer, 91, of Silver Spring, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019. He was born in Maytown, son of the late Orville and Bertha Baltozer.
In his teenage years, George was raised on the Paul Brubaker Farm, Mount Joy, where he learned the value of hard work by milking cows and working in the fields. It was while living with the Brubakers that he was taken to church where he learned about the Lord and where he accepted Christ as His Savior.
In 1947, he entered the US Army where he served in Occupied Japan and then in the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1951 with a Purple Heart.
Married to Lois Brubaker in 1952, they bought and ran a dairy farm until his retirement. He then started a metal recycling business as well as collected antique farm related items.
He was a member of Word of Life Chapel, Bainbridge.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, he is survived by his children: Larry (Sonia) of Rohrerstown; Patti (Dave) Nace of Mountville; Terry of Lancaster; and Michael of Silver Spring, as well as 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law: Clara Baltozer. He was preceded in death by his brother Louis Baltozer.
Private Interment was held at Silver Spring Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Word of Life Chapel, 139 Wickersham Rd, Bainbridge, PA 17502. Pamela J. Dietz, 56, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Clarence and Georgia Zink Dietz. Pam was deeply devoted to the readings of the Gospel. She was a homemaker and was a caring and loving person for her family and friends.

Edward R. Wilson, Jr., 87, of Mountville, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. He was the husband of Ellen C. Snyder Overmeyer Wilson with whom he would have celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on December 9, 2019 and the late Arlene S. Wilson. Ed was born in Lancaster, son of the late Edward R., Sr. and Kathryn Keenan Wilson. He was a supervisor at KD Tool and also worked in maintenance at Fulton Bank before his retirement. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict; and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He enjoyed traveling, camping and was a tinkerer.

Sarah M. Kunish, 36, of Bainbridge, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019. She was the wife of Stephen C. Knight. She was born in Muskegon MI, daughter of Daniel R. and Debra J. Burch Kunish, Pennsylvania. Sarah was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School, the University of Laverne and Penn State University, Harrisburg with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. She was a cheerleader for ten years and enjoyed crafting, scrap booking, animals, nature, the outdoors, environmental causes, reading, camping, and playing card and board games.

Kenneth Landis
Kenneth W. Landis went to be with the Lord August 31, 2019 at the age of 67. He passed away at his home in Gap, PA with his wife by his side. Ken is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marie, mother Helen, both of Gap, PA; a sister Charleen Smeltzer, of Mount Joy, PA; 4 children: Renee Scholer, Sean Landis, John W. Welk and Rachel Welk; 8 grandchildren: Ashlee Mast, John D. Welk, Taylor Mast, Victoria Smith, Garrett Welk, Nichole Scholer, Nicholas Scholer, Tristan Imhoff; a great granddaughter, Charlee Carl. He is preceded in death by his father Ken G., of East Petersburg, PA and granddaughter Kristen Imhoff.
Ken was a graduate of Hempfield High Schools class of 1969. Where he was a member of Hempfield Chorus. He graduated from the Institute of Computer Sciences in 1971 and also completed electrical schooling in 1987 at Williamsport Area Community College.
Kenny was known for his love of music and enjoyed played base, guitar, piano and trumpet. Over the years he was part of numerous bands including: Kansas City, Top Shelf Country, Shindig in the Barn, By Faith, Dreams, Byus, Cats on Holiday, Dunamis, Revival 1.3, Timeless and Grace Notes.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at Wayside Presbyterian Church, 600 Stony Battery Road, Landisville, PA on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Casual attire.

Terri Lynn Shertzer
Terri Lynn Shertzer, 53, of Millersville, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 5, 2019. She was the wife of Scott D. Shertzer and the daughter of Carl E. and Virginia M. Moll. Terri enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and loved her grandchildren very much.
Surviving in addition to her husband and parents, two children: Kayla and Jeremy (Hannah); four grandchildren; and one brother: Thomas Moll.
The Celebration of Life with a visitation will be held at Manor Church, 530 Central Manor Road, Lancaster on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Kathleen M. Shuman
Kathleen M. Shuman, 68, of Lancaster passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. She was the wife of Kenneth D. Shuman with whom she celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on April 7, 2019. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Richard R. and Beatrice Linton Gallagher. Kathy worked as a clerk at the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office and also worked at Penn Supreme for 25 years before her retirement. She was a member of Columbia-Middletown Elks #1074 Ladies Auxiliary where she enjoyed doing the children's program at Christmastime and the Easter Egg Hunt. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #372 Ladies Auxiliary and Women of the Moose Chickies Rock Lodge #307. She was a volunteer at the Lancaster Recreation Center.
Surviving in addition to her husband, one daughter: Cheri M. (Mark S.) Shopf, Elizabethtown. Two granddaughters: Megan (Barry) Sauder and Sami (Pastor Nathan) King. Three sisters: Doris Kelly, Lancaster; Jean (Michael) Nessinger, Leola; and Joan Gerber, Lancaster. Seven nieces and nephews: Julie, Dayna, Tanya, Brittany, Jonathan, and Sean.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc.,114 West Main Street, Mountville on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. with Pastor Nathan V. King officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. Please omit flowers.
