Kathleen D. Hynicka (Cooke)

October 30, 2017 Gregory Workman
Hynicka, K.jpg

Kathleen D. Hynicka (Cooke) peacefully passed away with her family at her bedside on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at the age of 61. Kathleen was born in New Jersey to Harry G. Cooke and Dorothy T. Cooke (Sharry) and raised in Totowa Boro.  She attended Passaic Valley High School in Little Falls and then received her B.A. degree in Social Work at Albright College in Reading, PA, where she met her husband of 37 years, Steven F. Hynicka.  She served the elderly as a Social Worker in Pennsylvania with the Office of Aging in Reading, Conestoga View Nursing Home in Lancaster, Lancashire Terrace in Neffsville, and Willow Valley Retirement Communities in Willow Street.

She is survived by her husband, Steven, of West Hempfield, PA; her daughter Lauren M. Hynicka, wife of H. Thomas Berlin Jr., and their two wonderful children, Landon and Madison, of Towson, MD; her son Justin D. Hynicka and his wife Kristina G. Hopkins of Arlington, VA; and her brother Harry G. Cooke, Jr., of West Henrietta, NY.

In the words of her two-year-old granddaughter, Kathleen was an amazing nana (grandmother), mother, wife, sister and daughter.  She left us too soon, but we are thankful for the time we were given.  May she rest in peace in our Lord’s House.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 PM Saturday, November 4, 2017, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 222 North George St., Millersville PA.  Family and Friends will be received at the Church for visitation between 12:30 P.M. and 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to: the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Dr. Suite 106, Danvers, MA 01923  http://www.scleroderma.org  or The Lancaster County Conservancy, 117 S West End Ave. Lancaster  PA 17603  http://lancasterconservancy.org/ Arrangements by the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville/Columbia.
