Rachel J. Rakita

 

 

Rachel J. Zeamer-Rakita, 50, of (Columbia) Philadelphia, grew her angel wings on Sunday, November 30, 2025, after a short illness at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Dean A. Zeamer (July, 1975) and Stephanie A. Bourne-Zeamer Douglas, wife of Michael D. Douglas. Rachel was a member of Columbia Community Church, a cake decorator, and a seamstress. She loved camping and going to the beach, especially Lewes and Rehoboth. Rachel was a free-spirited person who was an avid fan of the Grateful Dead and Bob Marley. She loved animals, especially cats, and really enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving in addition to her mother and father, her son: Lake A. (Kayla) Rakita and her daughter: Harmony G. Zeamer. Sisters: Justine R. (Tony) Ritzman-Helmick and Joshalyn R. Ritzman-Rentas. Nieces: Justus Keller, Mercedes (fiancé of David Bowman) Rentas; Lexus Helmick, and Makahila Rentas. Great nephews: Lincoln, Jaxson, and Mayson Bowman. Paternal grandparents: David and Jennifer Douglas. Uncles: Kirk Douglas, Danny, husband of Barb Bourne (daughter Suzanne Bourne). Rachel is also survived by a loving extended family of many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by: Maternal grandparents: James D. (Betty J. Bachman) Bourne; Maternal grandfather: Robert Gestewitz; Paternal grandparents: Donald "Tupp" (B. Jane) Zeamer; Stepfather: Roy R. Ritzman, Jr., and Step-grandparents: Roy R. (Patricia) Ritzman, Sr.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jeff Engroff, officiating. Private interment in Silver Spring Cemetery. Viewing from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. We encourage wearing Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, tie-dye, or colorful attire. Please omit flowers.
