Deane R. Funk

Deane R. Funk, 68, of Washington Boro, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 18, 2016. He passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Deborah A. Hostetter Funk, to whom he was married for 44 years. He was born in Columbia, son of Edgar S. Funk and the late F. Jean Bender Funk. He was a member of Central Manor Church of God, where he served as an usher until his illness. Deane graduated from Penn Manor. Growing up on the farm, he developed a passion for farming, and later accomplished his dream of owning his own farm and won many ribbons for his vegetables at the Lampeter Fair. Deane enjoyed spending time at the beach with his family, antiquing, and playing a friendly, competitive game of Pinochle with his buddies.

Surviving in addition to his wife and father, one daughter: Heather (Daniel) Tietz. One son: Ryan (Amanda Brandt) Funk. Five grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Pappy”: Autum and Lydia Tietz; Connor, Tyler, and Leah Funk. Two sisters: Dawn (Dr. James) Doman; and Dianne (Barry) Smith. He was preceded in death by one grandson: Wyatt Tietz. He will be lovingly missed by many family and friends.

A Celebration of Deane’s life will be held at Central Manor Church of God, 387 Penn Street, Washington Boro on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Stanley A. Maughan, officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Private interment will be held in Habecker Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: www.wyatttietzfoundation.com or www.countycorrectionsgospelmission.org Arrangements by the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., Mountville/Columbia.
