Ruth Ann Bearden

Ruth Ann Bearden, 73, of Neffsville, formerly of Pontiac, MI, was called home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 1, 2018. Ruth is survived by her best friend and husband, Samuel R. Bearden to whom she was married for 52 years. She was born in Davenport, IA, the first child of the late Lt. William F. and Mary A. Muse Willson. She was a graduate of Pontiac Northern High School, Class of 1962 and a member of Mountville Mennonite Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband, four children: Bruce (Anett) Bearden, El Paso, TX; Melody Bearden, Lancaster; Capt. Timothy (Laurie) Bearden, Wahiawa, HI; and David (Deb) Bearden, Mountville. Ruth was much loved by her nine grandchildren: Emma, Sophie, Ava, Anna, Madison, Sarah, Chase, Clay, and Colt.

Ruth was an active person with many talents: playing the flute, painting, sewing, quilting, and crossword puzzles. She was a licensed beautician and loved to cut hair, giving free haircuts to veterans at the VOA Center in Detroit. She also played her flute for 12 years at an assisted living center in Holly, MI. Ruth even taught English to Chinese children in Lanzhou, China and later taught English to Chinese seniors in Michigan. Ruth was very supportive of her children's and grandchildren's activities. She taught them to bake cookies, knit, and do art projects. She loved to attend their athletic events and support their musical talents.

The Memorial Service to honor Ruth’s life will be held at Mountville Mennonite Church, 205 Froelich Ave., Mountville on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jim Laverty and Pastor Philip L. Shertzer, officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) of Lancaster County, 5307 Main Street, East Petersburg, PA 17520.
